SUPERHEROES and SUPERSTARS
The creation of superhero images has been a significant chapter in my artistic career, encompassing both real and fictional characters. Notably, the Ryan White Foundation poster stands out, where I had the privilege of not only depicting Ryan and his friends but also the inclusion of basketball superstar Magic Johnson. The images presented above offer a blend of both real and fictional superhero representations, showcasing the diverse facets of this thematic thread that has consistently woven through my creative journey.
Some of these images were developed while teaching high school art – The Marilyn Monroe piece was created for a lesson in using reference. The color Batman came about from a lesson utilizing childhood art materials- this was Crayolas on black construction paper- the black and white Batman and Ironman were done with construction paper for a lesson on the Japanese design concept Nōtan.
