Super Grover

Super Grover began as a series of warm up sketches ( Along with the Abby Cadabby piece) I wanted to show you my process by presenting the rough sketch, the pencils and a digital color rough. The final piece sits on my drawing board screaming to be finished… It’s production got sidetracked while I worked on the Smithsonian books.

When working, I started out with a sketch and then decided that I would draw the immediate neighborhood and that I would add Big Bird, Elmo, Oscar and Cookie Monster… so I had to work out pose sketches of them to incorporate into the image.

The pencil stage came next… full pencils- I usually do this for every piece I do whether traditional or digital…

I then took the pencils, scanned them into my software of choice, in this case Clip Studio Paint, created a blueline and began to do a rough color layout that would guide me when I do paint the piece.
